A parsimonious multivariate copula for tail dependence modeling

Copulas are increasingly studied both in theory and practice as they are a convenient tool to construct multivariate distribution functions. However the material essentially covers the bi-variate case while in applications the number of variables is much higher. Furthermore, when one wants to take into account tail dependence, a desirable property is to have enough flexibility in the tails whil...

Two-stage estimation using copula function

‎Maximum likelihood estimation of multivariate distributions needs solving a optimization problem with large dimentions (to the number of unknown parameters) but two‎- ‎stage estimation divides this problem to several simple optimizations‎. ‎It saves significant amount of computational time‎. ‎Two methods are investigated for estimation consistency check‎. ‎We revisit Sankaran and Nair's bivari...

Copula and tail dependence in risk deposit management

Total risk is a sum of different risk quantities. This report studies how the tail of the total risk variable behaves when the marginal distributions of the different risk quantities differ as well as the dependence between the risk quantities. The dependence is quantified through a so called Copula. Moreover, the tail of the total risk is compared with the sum of tails from each risk quantity.

compactifications and function spaces on weighted semigruops

chapter one is devoted to a moderate discussion on preliminaries, according to our requirements. chapter two which is based on our work in (24) is devoted introducting weighted semigroups (s, w), and studying some famous function spaces on them, especially the relations between go (s, w) and other function speces are invesigated. in fact this chapter is a complement to (32). one of the main fea...

Weighted Approximations of Tail Copula Processes with Application to Testing the Bivariate Extreme Value Condition

Consider n i.i.d. random vectors on R, with unknown, common distribution function F . Under a sharpening of the extreme value condition on F , we derive a weighted approximation of the corresponding tail copula process. Then we construct a test to check whether the extreme value condition holds by comparing two estimators of the limiting extreme value distribution, one obtained from the tail co...

Nonparametric estimation of the conditional tail copula

The tail copula is widely used to describe the dependence in the tail of multivariate distributions. In some situations such as risk management, the dependence structure may be linked with some covariate. The tail copula thus depends on this covariate and is referred to as the conditional tail copula. The aim of this paper is to propose a nonparametric estimator of the conditional tail copula a...
